Lost Admirals is merely Adam Daffurn in a flimsy disguise. Known by some for his musical scores on documentaries such as the gritty and tragic Ten Dollar Death Trip (Netflix) the heartbreaking Good Grief (Channel 4), or quintessentially kitsch Narrow Escapes (Channel 4)... Where as others may have been aware of him as he guitarist in indie-stutter-pop, fourpiece; God Save The King, maybe the front-chap of Dandelion Killers, or Vonhorn, featuring ex-Cardiacs drummer Dom Luckman. Perhaps it’s as the bassist in Vendetta Deluxe, or as a collaborator with the likes of cult London band, Dubious Brothers, folk singer Elspeth Anne, or, rather surprisingly DJ Frontliner from the Netherlands... But it’s most likely you’ve never heard of him at all. Either way, whilst working as a composer/producer professionally and playing with various bands/artists in his spare time, Adam has always been quietly, but prolifically writing and recording a vast array of his own material, which is finally beginning to see the light of day under the new pseudonym of Lost Admirals.
New Single: “Lighthouse” OUT NOW
“Does more in it’s three minutes than most bands can deliver in an EP”
Peter Richard Adams, Joyzine
Lighthouse is the first single to be released under this new alter ego. Not quite indie, not quite folk, not really rock, but still bursting with pounding drums, guitars-aplenty, sing along choruses, mandolins, melodicas and surprisingly few chords, all performed by the Admiral himself.
New EP:
“Daydreams & Stolen Souvenirs”
OUT NOW
"One of the great talents of our time... hit-after-what-should-be-massive-hit seems to spill from this guy every time I see him"
Andy O'Hare, BBC Introducing
The Daydreams & Stolen Souvenirs EP was released exclusively on Bandcamp for the platform's September 2024 Friday promotion. It features six tracks which are recordings from a bygone era and an earlier incarnation of The Admiral. The songs originally began as a dark, noir folk project formulated around self inflicted, unnecessary rules and limitations on instrumentation (which were inevitably all broken to some degree). Retro slap delays swamp the acoustic and twangy Tarrantino/Bond guitars, whilst sea shanty accordions and mandolins drown, hopelessly in cavernous plate reverbs and relentlessly bleak lyrical content.
